What cleaning products are best for cleaning a house that needs a lot of work?
My boyfriend just bought a house for us but the house needs a lot of work. While he’s doing the repair work, I plan to clean the rooms. I don’t want to use homemade products for this because you have to mix way too many things. I’m willing to pay for the cleaning products but I need to make sure I get the right ones. The products I’ll need will be mostly for the following: oven/stove grease, soap scum, wood floors, etc. I have only seen the inside once so I can’t really remember everything that needs work. Just imagine everything that goes in a house that hasn’t been properly taken care of. I’d like a list of cleaning products and how good they are if anyone can find one or can just share their opinions. I appreciate it. Thank you =]
My basic cleaning products…Brillo pads, oven cleaner, Windex, soft scrub or comet cleanser, dish soap, Pinesol lemon cleaning liquid (or Lysol). Plenty of paper towels, sponges, a bucket, broom, cleaning rags.
1. Lysol 4in1 All Purpose Cleaner: this gets rid of 99.9% of germs, soap scum, cuts grease, and deodorizes
2. Windex Antibacterial: this is great on mirrors and windows and gets rid of any bacteria
3. Clorox Clean-Up: this is a disinfectant and does a good job on most counter tops and bathroom surfaces
4. 409: Antibacterial and good all purpose cleaner
5. Windex Antibacterial: I know I’ve already listed this but use this on the floors.
6. Comet: good disinfectant for sinks and toilets
7. Easy Off Oven Cleaner: cleans the oven very well
8. Gloves: great cheap thing that prevents your hands from being chemically burned
9. Brush: I use a stiff brush and it works on most anything that gives me trouble removing
10. Lime-a-Way: for lime, calcium, and rust. (if you use this, please use gloves)
11. Ventilation: Use plenty of this. Fumes can be toxic.
12. Bleach: I mostly use this for the inside of the toilets to disinfect them

The best thing to do is to buy a bottle of TSP. This will remove all odors,grease, stuck on dirt etc. off of walls and flooring counter tops and doors. It’s what painters use to prep the walls before painting. Vinegar used at full strength is just as good as windex for windows and mirrors.Cheaper too! If you have carpet rent a rug doctor add 1 tbsp of ammonia with hot water to the reservoir and get ready for a good workout.Do a second round with carpet cleaner. Make sure you open all the windows and use masks, gloves and some old clothing.

windex- windows and mirrors
greased lightening- stove top and face, anywhere else greasy
easy off and Gloves- inside the oven
bleach cleaner- inside the fridge and freezer and outside toilets
lavender scent pine sol or fauloso- mix in a spray bottle with hot water for a multi purpose cleaner and in a bucket for the floors
Tools needed- green scrubby pads, toilet brush, alot of work towels, paper towel, and an old credit card makes a great scraper also you can soak all removable parts from the stove and fridge and anything else with pine sol in the bath tub.
