Sunday car repair when not in your home town?

My brother has been stranded on some long trips due do his Jeep breaking down. What should he do when he is stuck far away from his hometown and his car breaks down? He could always tow it 147 miles home, but are there any Sunday repair shops around? He is currently stuck in Birmingham, AL and he is checking his fluids.

hate to say this more more places are closed on Sunday ever alot of your autoparts stores are.

Windows XP Home Boot Problem?
Posted by: | CommentsI am trying to fix a Dell desktop for my friend. He has Windows XP Home SP2. The problem is that his computer continues to reboot, over and over again. On first power up, the computer goes the screen that lists the different options for boot-up, (safe mode, safe mode /w networking or command prompt, last known good config, or stat windows normally)
All the safe mode options make the computer freeze, while the other options start the windows boot sequence, but about 6 seconds into the boot, a blue screen (of death) flashes extremely fast, then the computer restarts.
I tried to boot from the system CD, but it freezes when i try to get to the repair consoul (the hit “r” to repair your system).
Does anybody have any idea how to work-around or fix this problem? I am sure that if i can get to a command prompt, i could fix it, but I can’t.

When I try to repair the connection it says the ip address cannot be renewed. I restarted the modem/ router and tried the ipconfig / renew thing. Still not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
How do I re-install windows vista home premium after installing a new hard drive?
Posted by: | CommentsI am trying to repair a friend’s computer. It is a compaq presario c700 series model C762NR. It had a hard drive failure so I had to install a new one. Everything seems to be working fine. I ran both the memory and hard drive tests and they all passed. I was told to buy recovery disks from HP (by HP support) so I did. The system restore fails every single time. It seems to be system.logs FAILED. How can I re-install the operating system? Do I have to buy the $150+ Windows Vista DVD?
I would appreciate some help. The laptop is out of warranty and my friend can not afford a new laptop at this time.
