Why do Car repair centers rip you off?
By · CommentsQuestion by Tpheez .: Why do Car repair centers rip you off?
I had a repair center quote me $ 800 worth of repair to fix my car. But a friend of mine is a mechanic and he thought I just need one part. I went and bought a $ 12 part and had him put it in for me and now my car works fine.
My friend thought it was a thermostat that need to be replaced. I then went to do a diagnostic at Goodyear to make sure that’s what was wrong with it, and thats where they quoted me for extra crap. My friend put the thermostat in the next day and it is no longer overheating.

Can you sue a repair shop if your car got stolen?
By · CommentsQuestion by : Can you sue a repair shop if your car got stolen?
The other day a car repair guy came and took my moms car away to fix it and apparently he left the key inside the ignition of the car and someone stole it. My mom isn’t quite sure what she can do about it because she got the car in 2003 but my cousin is telling her to sue him. Can we?

They may have a sign that says they are not responsible. But if they left the key in the car, that’s negligence, and she should be able sue.

Question by lazlo_dei: Car repair costs twice as much as car worth…and won’t do much to extend life of car. What to do?
I only need two vehicles…my third one is an 11 year old Hyundai Sonata which is undrivable and needs repairs costing twice as much as what it is worth. Plus, even after the repairs, it has other problems that will require even more repairs/costs…and probably won’t extend the life of the car.
I don’t see any reason to pay that.
Instead, should I sell it to someone or hang on to it to trade it in or donate it to charity or what?
Thanks.

Sell the parts separately.

Question by Greg8325: I filed an insurance claim for hail damage done to my car. Can I use the money for another car repair?
My car insurance mailed me a check for some minor hail damage but I would rather use it to repair another issue on my car. Can I do that or does the money have to go to repairing the hail damage?

If they send the money to you, you can use it on what you want.
If they send it to the body shop, you can’t get anything but the damage done.
If you do get the cash, “Paintless Dent Removal” is much cheaper than a body shop. maybe you can get it all done.
Next, post whats wrong with your car and we’ll tell you how to fix it cheap.

Question by myportraitdrawing: Is it worth the hassle to try and sue a car repair shop?
I spent over 1000 dollars and my car still has the same problem. They convinced me I should replace my engine head and it would fix my problem, but I still have the same problem as before. I don’t think they ever figured out what was wrong, and they made me pay for a repair that wasn’t needed. Do I have any real chance of getting my money back?

How much would you estimate my car repair?
By · CommentsQuestion by 6005250: How much would you estimate my car repair?
So yesterday I went to a drive thru but they were closed. There was also a delivery truck blocking the exit of the drive through lane. So I backed up, by my front passenger side wheel went up onto a curb. It was not a normal height curb either, but about a 8 in high mega-curb.
Car is a 2004 Honda Accord. The piece in question can be seen pretty clearly in this picture.

It’s that bit between the wheel well and the front door, only on the passenger side. That strip appears to have caved in on itself and one side is folded in. There is now a gap from that strip to the door. Also, the actual wheel well itself appears to have sustained some damage.
I’m a dumba** for that accident and am pissed about it. I don’t really care about the paint chips. How much would you estimate the repair to the frame? Thanks
Best answer:
Answer by John
if its true frame damage it could run into several hundred or thousands. if its just body pannel damage it could be a couple hundred bucks. most people wont be able to tell you much without good pictures. id take it into a body shop and have them give you a free estimate.
in my guess, you could have thrown off the alignment too which would cause abnormal tire ware if not fixed semi soon (not in a few days. in the next few months.) youd just need to get realignment.it probably only will cost a couple hundred. most places will do it with a brake pad change.

Can car repair shop deny owner of car from picking up car although no repair work was done

That doesn’t make sense. I would say you can get your car. Read your receipt and see if there’s anything in the fine print. Call the police and you can get your car back.
