Question by : Which car repair jobs you can do and save a lot of money?
Such as oil changes, but what about breaks and rotors changes? Does that usually save a lot on the labor or not worth the extra time to do it? Any other “home garrage” jobs that can save a lot of cash?

Best answer:

Answer by ioerr
Oil changes don’t save you a whole lot, but they’re easy. Brake and rotor changes are a little harder but they save you more. Exhaust replacement isn’t too hard and can save you quite a bit.

Really any repair you can manage yourself is worthwhile. But if you’re not sure about it, do yourself a favor and pay a professional.

Best answer:

Answer by Country Boy
Older cars are less expensive to repair if you have the right car. Some are easy to find parts for and others are not.

You would have gotten a better answer if you had taken time to jot down the year make and model of the car.

Best answer:

Answer by J M
I agree with you. I feel the problem should be fully explained, I should know the cost and I should be treated like a customer not like they are doing me a favor. After all, I’m paying their salary. No, they aren’t all that way. If you were at a large shop and it was a particular employee, you should have complained to their manager.

Question by : Can you request repair over cash when your car has been totaled?
My used car, which isn’t worth very much, was in an accident. Most of the damage has been done to the body of the car, where there isn’t any engine damage. The damage is might be worth more than the car ($ 5000), but I would rather repair the car than get a cash check. Is there any chance that you can request this from insurance companies (mine is State Farm)?

Best answer:

Answer by tameme
each insurance company works different what about you policy full cover or some body else hit you yes you can get cash but they dint pay full price just the value of the car by the book

Question by flibbyjibbs: Car repair in Blacksburg, VA and cost of replacing wheel bearing?
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good, honest car repair shop in Blacksburg, Virginia. The reason I ask is because my front left tire makes a chirping noise when I drive, and the noise speeds up and slows down as I drive faster or slower. I think that is the wheel bearing but I am no expert. How much does replacing a wheel bearing normally cost?

Thanks a bunch,

Flibber

Best answer:

Answer by superchuck_a11
not much if it is a wheel bearing, it might be the whole ft spindle if you have ft wheel drive.
also it might be your brake rotors…when did you last do brakes ??

You will FEEL the bearings, hear the brakes…usually

What do you think? Answer below!

I want to write a letter to the CEO about a recent experience at one of their locations.

Best answer:

Answer by everfair
Sorry, I don’t know, but please do let him know that the ineptitude of his Edison, NJ shop in not actually changing my oil during an oil change, and not replacing the oil cap on my engine, has resulted in my engine being ruined and burning oil ever since then.

He owes me 4K for a new engine.
