Question by Bill W: Spent money intendened to pay for car repair?
I was in a major accident and it was the other drivers fault. The other drivers insurance company contacted me and asked me what place I would like to get my car repaired at. I told them the repair shop. It took a while for the car to be repaired and little by little I would take money out of the money that was to be used to pay the repair shop. ( The check was issued to me but to pay the repair shop, but only my name on the check). The car is being financed. Now the car is finished and I dont have the money to pay for the repair. The repair shop is calling the insurance company telling them I havent paid for the repair, and the repair shop is threatening to put a lein on the car. What can the insurance company do to me and what can the car repair do to me. I still have a large portion of the money I need to pay them but they wont accept anything less than all of the money which I do not have. What can happen to me legally and financially.

Best answer:

Answer by diamondlil
The repair shop can put a lein on your car and not release it until you pay the bill. The repair shop is not going to give you the car until the pay the bill in full either by cash, check, or credit card payment. That is why the check should never be given to the person if there is a loan on the car. You may also have a legal problem with the loan company, as the check was not yours to spend.

Question by : How much for misc car repair?
All right so my sister crashed my car. It’s a 2005 350z Roadster. You understand the problem here.

Anyway, I would like to know a ballpark estimate of how much these would cost:
- Buff and repair bumper (Deep scratches on the left side, with some small holes)
- Re-seat Hood (it’s not sitting quite right any more, and won’t close completely)
- It needs a new rim, too, but I can take care of that.

Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Marshall
Your question would need to be several paragraphs long, to provide all of the information required for an accurate answer.
Since the cost of repairs is determined by your location, insurance coverage (or not) the degree of perfection that you are seeking in the repair, ect. – I recommend that you replace the damaged wheel, and drive your car to “several” autobody repair shops for estimates. Most shops will perform a “walk-around” inspection of your damaged vehicle and provide a ballpark estimate within 30 minutes or so. This should give you the info that you are seeking.

I had thought that generally, if you bring your car to fix some stuff, the diagnostic part is free as long as you fix the problem they found. Is that not the case?
There’s this car repair shop that I’ve used a few times and they seem to have pretty good review, but I noticed that they charge for the diagnostic in addition to the cost of fixing the problem. Is this usual? Or am I getting ripped off here? and that this repair shop isn’t as good as the review?

Best answer:

Answer by Max
Most places just include diagnostic time in their bill, at least this place tells you.

Question by Jeff: Is it possible to get Car-Repair-Insurance on a vehicle with 250,000 miles?
Been looking for auto-repair insurance for my used car, and they all seem to top out at 200,000 miles. Is this normal or am I just not looking in the right places? Note: This is NOT normal liability/collision insurance. I am talking about repair insurance.

Best answer:

Answer by Howard L
You can’t really buy repair insurance on any car. All you can do is buy an “insurance policy”. Just ask the almost 1,000,000 people who bought a policy from USFidelis for as much as $ 4,000 and now have a piece of toilet paper. The bankruptcy really didn’t change things for most of their customers anyway because they refused to pay for most of the repairs they promised. There problem was always due to neglect or abuse by the customer and so it wasn’t covered by the “bumper to bumper” policy.

USFidelis was the largest of these extended warranty companies but there are hundreds of others who for the most part are nothing but scams.

Best answer:

Answer by C. Mars
Take the $ 500, get an open loan and don’t spend what you don’t need. Then, pay it all back on time. It will help establish your credit as well. Maybe, they will extend you a credit line in the future and you will have access to money as you need it…or apply for a credit card through your union.

Question by : How much should I pay for my car repair?
I am getting my car repaired today because it was broken into. The glove compartment handle was ripped off which was the only damage to the car. How much should I pay for them to replace the glove compartment handle? I drive a 2010 dodge challenger (my model costs $ 22,000-$ 25,000).

Best answer:

Answer by Charlie T
Take the car to your nearest Dodge dealer and they can look at the damage and give you a price on parts and labor. It will be less than you paid for the car. I think.
