www.fjkassociates.com We offer a wide range of services. Our client services range from providing general information that may be helpful to the homeowner to exclusive engagements and aggressive negotiations of loan discounts and modification agreements. – No up front fees. Our services require no fees or any payment, unless we obtain a suitable change in the terms of a clients mortgage obligation. – Walk away programs In the case where a client simply wants to walk away from their home, our fees are based on one-half of any moneys realized from the ultimate sale of the home, after we deduct our out of pocket expenses, such as payment of utilities, liens and taxes necessary to preserve the home. – Stay in home programs: In the case where a client wants to stay in his or her home, our fees are equal to twenty percent of the negotiated discount, and this fee is payable over a ten year period with interest at five percent per annum. There is no prepayment penalty for our fee account if the home is sold. Call us: 213-321-9858

Last month we had the thermostat set at 62 degrees. My wife and I were both comfortable. Well we got our gas bill back, $220. I don’t think our walls are insulated at all in the house so we’re insulating the attic this weekend, already installed a programmable thermostat (we used to have an old round Honeywell thermostat), and bought a ceramic heater for our living room.

We lowered it to 58, is this bad for a house? For us?

We live in Ohio, and last month was COLD. Probably only going to get worse. Is there anything else we can do?
Just to answer Drewfuss, our house is about 1600 square feet, ranch with full basement.

I already posted a question regarding this issue, and have gotten some great answers. However, now I have more information to add.

I have a GE Profile cooktop that has a cracked glass top. Also, the large/small burner switch is broken. So, GE will send me these parts for the paltry sum of about $575.

I can purchase a conventional cooktop for a lot less.

I can also purchase a new GE Profile glass cooktop for $809. Taxes and installation extra.

I can purchase a Kenmore (it says stainless steel, but looks like glass in the picture) cooktop for around $500.

I have gas plumbed in, and still have an outside venting hood, so I could even go with a conventional gas range.

For convenience sake, I might just order the parts, but this seems like an ideal time to explore all my options.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
