How can I get a personal loan from my home loan?

I have owned my home for three years but since refi-ing it two more times have close to no equity. With that said, is there a way that I could find a company to give me a medical loan with the house as collateral? My mortgage company wouldn’t do it even though the note has never been late.

58 degree thermostat setting?

Last month we had the thermostat set at 62 degrees. My wife and I were both comfortable. Well we got our gas bill back, $220. I don’t think our walls are insulated at all in the house so we’re insulating the attic this weekend, already installed a programmable thermostat (we used to have an old round Honeywell thermostat), and bought a ceramic heater for our living room.

We lowered it to 58, is this bad for a house? For us?

We live in Ohio, and last month was COLD. Probably only going to get worse. Is there anything else we can do?
Just to answer Drewfuss, our house is about 1600 square feet, ranch with full basement.

The 1st refrigerator was all frosty like snow in the back when you unscrewed it. We ended up replacing it with another refrigerator that we knew worked. Now it seems like this one isn’t getting cold. I replaced the water filter, but about it. What the heck is wrong. Help

Glass cooktop vs conventional cooktop vs gas cooktop?

I already posted a question regarding this issue, and have gotten some great answers. However, now I have more information to add.

I have a GE Profile cooktop that has a cracked glass top. Also, the large/small burner switch is broken. So, GE will send me these parts for the paltry sum of about $575.

I can purchase a conventional cooktop for a lot less.

I can also purchase a new GE Profile glass cooktop for $809. Taxes and installation extra.

I can purchase a Kenmore (it says stainless steel, but looks like glass in the picture) cooktop for around $500.

I have gas plumbed in, and still have an outside venting hood, so I could even go with a conventional gas range.

For convenience sake, I might just order the parts, but this seems like an ideal time to explore all my options.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
