bathroom caulking brand without a gun?

Hi .. I saw an ad in a waiting room magazine for bathroom caulking – a cross between the kind in a squeeze tube and the container you put in a gun. This was a tube with a trigger on it that provided a better bead than the usual tube (and I’ve never mastered the gun!).

I don’t remember the brand or the magazine! Has anyone heard of a product like this and if so … do you have a brand or a name?

a better bead you say?? the bead only depends on the size of the hole you cut in the tube end. Most people cut the opening large enough to squeeze cheeze sauce on a pizza crust. You only need a small hole to dispence caulking. If your uncomfortable about using a caulking gun, try this…

Remove all of the existing caulking with a knife and razor. Use blue or green painters tape and secure it about 1/8- 1/4 inch from the seam on both sides. (If the tape didn’t stick, you didn’t clean it well enough…hint, hint) Then run your bead and spread with your finger. Remove the tape and you have nice straight lines. (remember to remove the tape before the caulking dries).

Just run over the bead with your finger. An old trick I use, although it sounds gross, is to spit into your hand, dip your finger into it, and run your slimy finger across the bead, pressing it nicely into the groove. Works pretty good. And water doesn’t work as well as spit for some reason.

I am a 37 year experienced painter and I have not seen a tube type caulking that has a trigger actually built onto the tube..however..we always used dap tub and tile caulk ina tube for around any sinks, tubs,or heavy water usage areas..here is a picture of it..
